c) Checking the engine function
Warning!
Ensure that no loose parts, such as paper, film or other objects can be sucked into the propeller during
this motor test. Also make sure that the model is held securely during this test and that no parts of your
body are in the rotation and danger area of the propeller.
First start running the transmitter then the model.
Slide the control rod for the aileron and engine functions (see Fig. 2, Pos. 5) to the bottom position (engine off). Doing
this, the trim slide for the engine function (see Fig. 2, Pos. 4) has to be in central position.
Now press the release button for the engine function (see Fig. 5, Pos. 4)!
If the control rod for the aileron and engine functions is slowly pushed upwards, the propeller starts and slowly increases
the rotation speed.
The maximum rotation speed is reached when the control rod is on the top end.
If the engine reacts opposite to the above described function, you can switch the effective direction of the gas control
rod with the reverse switch (see Fig. 2, Pos. 9).
Perform a brief engine test and check the run of the propeller and the spinner.
d) Checking the center of gravity
The center of gravity of the model is preset because of
design reasons and is located approx. 78 mm behind the
front edge of the surface (measured in the centre of the
surface).
If the model is lifted to the left and right of this point, it
should be in balance or the nose slightly dropped.
If necessary, the centre of gravity can be shifted by adding
sinkers at the tip of the fuselage or at the tail strike.
If the point of gravity is moved to the front, this does increase the stability, but also makes the gliding properties of the
model worse.
If the point of gravity is moved to the rear, this does improve the gliding properties, but the model becomes very
instable and it reacts extremely strongly to control commands from the elevator.
Important!
However, only experienced pilots should modify the position of the centre of gravity in order to adapt
selectively the model airplane performance to their expectations and steering habits.
