Cisco Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server Expressway
Upgrade a Cisco VCS X3 / X4 cluster to an X5 cluster (including Cisco TMS to 12.6 and non-clustered Cisco
VCSs to X5)
Provisioning data will no longer be updated from Cisco TMS to the Cisco VCS, however
provisioning of endpoints from data cached on Cisco VCS will continue.

Repeat for each Cisco VCS in Cisco TMS.
2. Make a note of which Cisco VCS clusters and non-clustered Cisco VCSs have had their
provisioning disabled as this will have to be manually re-enabled later in this process.
3. Upgrade Cisco TMS to 12.6.
Note: The upgrade will be blocked if provisioning is enabled on any Cisco VCS in Cisco TMS.

Upgrade Cisco VCS clusters to X5.2
Follow this procedure for every Cisco VCS cluster managed by Cisco TMS.
Upgrade master peer
For the Master peer:
1. Backup the Cisco VCS (see “Appendix 1 – Backing up a Cisco VCS” for details).
1. Backup the Cisco VCS (see “Appendix 1 – Backing up a Cisco VCS” for details).
2. Upgrade the master Cisco VCS peer to X5.2 following the process defined in ‘Appendix 9 –
The upgrade process will disable Cisco VCS’s FindMe / provisioning functionality.
Provisioning is restored when Enable TMS Agent Data Replication is enabled.
FindMe is restored on this Master Cisco VCS when the FindMe accounts are upgraded.
