6. Ensure that both the 
Obtain an IP address automatically
 and 
Obtain DNS server address automatically
 options are 
selected. If not, select them.
7. Click OK to close the dialog boxes and finish the 
configuration.
8. Restart the computer even if Windows does not require you to 
do so. This ensures that the network settings are 
automatically reset.
Windows XP
1. From the Windows desktop, select 
Start
  
→  
Settings
  
→  
 
Control Panel
. Double-click the 
Network and Dialup 
Connections
 icon.
A list of network adapters appears as shown in Figure 62. The 
Local Area Connection 
icon must appear under the LAN or 
High-Speed Internet heading. If it does not, the network is not 
installed correctly.
Note:
If Control Panel is in category view, select Network 
and Internet Connections then select Network 
Connections
.
