Click the gear icon.

Click the Scrub button in the pop-up menu.
A confirmation window opens.

Choose the Yes button to confirm.
The scrubbing process starts.

The start and completion of the volume scrub are recorded in the system log (see 

 on page 194).

If you set up email notifications for your system, you receive an email message when the process finishes. For
more information about alert notifications, see 

 on page 158.

Over time, deletion, creation, and modification of files can fragment your data. Defragmenting a volume improves
disk performance and reduces data fragmentation.

Log in to your ReadyNAS.

Select System > Volumes.

Select a volume.
