The peer-keepalive communication helps ensure that the loss of the peer-link path does not introduce any unwanted 
flooding or split-subnet scenarios. 
Figure 21 shows the failure scenario in the presence of a fabric extender. The vPC operational secondary shuts down 
the vPC member port to host 1, which is directly attached to N5k01 and the vPC member port of host 2 connected to 
Cisco Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extender N2k01.
