Unified CM Servers
Unified CM clusters utilize various types of servers, depending on the scale, performance, and
redundancy required. They range from non-redundant, single-processor servers to highly redundant,
multi-processor servers.
Unified CM is supported only on specific hardware platforms. For a list of the currently supported
hardware configurations, refer to the documentation on Cisco MCS 7800 Series Unified CM appliances,
available at
For the latest information on supported platforms, models, and specific hardware configurations, refer
to the online documentation at
The server platforms have particular memory requirements, which are documented in Product Bulletin
2864, Physical Memory Recommendations For Cisco CallManager Version 4.0 and Later, available at
lists the types of servers you can use for Unified CM for Unified CCE deployments, the main
characteristics, and typical agent limits. These limits are not guaranteed to be possible in all deployment
scenarios, but in normal call center deployments, these limits are typically possible. However, in all
cases you must use the Cisco Unified CM Capacity Tool or the Unified Communications Sizing Tool to
verify that a specific system design will be supported.

lists the maximum number of agents in a system where only one Unified CM subscriber
server is deployed, with the Unified CM publisher used as backup.

Unified CCE Recommendation
Standard server:
MCS-7825
  •
Single processor
  •
Single power supply (not hot-swap)
  •
Non-RAID hard disk (not hot-swap)
Up to a maximum of 100 agents
(Not recommended for mission-critical
call centers above 50 agents)
High-availability standard server:
MCS-7835
  •
Single processor
  •
Redundant power supplies (hot-swap)
  •
Redundant SCSI RAID hard disk array
(hot-swap)
Up to a maximum of 250 agents
High-performance server:
MCS-7845
  •
Dual processors
  •
Redundant power supplies (hot-swap)
  •
Redundant SCSI RAID hard disk arrays
(hot-swap)
Up to a maximum of 500 agents
