Europlex Aplex/3GS Panel Network
Up to 8 Aplex, or 3GS panels can be connected to the Datalog PC. Each panel will have a Network
card and the SYSTEM ID set in the range 1 to 8.  Panel 1 is mapped as zones 1 to 100, panel 2 as
zones 101 to 200 etc. (1 to 200 and 201 to 400 etc. for the 3GS panels).
NOTE:  The Datalog software is licensed for a fixed number of zones when purchased, do not add
panels to the system without renewing the license to take into account the additional zones. Also
the ASCII text setup file APLEX.DAT sets up the number of connected panels on the network.
The following diagram illustrates the daisy chain connection of panels.
LDAC Changes
The connection to the PC is via a LDAC.   The wiring connection from the LDAC to the PC remains
unchanged from a single panel system, however the connection from the LDAC to the first Network
card should be made using the terminal numbers shown above.  The patch panel on the LDAC
should also be wired as shown.
Cable Distances
Europlex U.K. have stated that the maximum cable length from the PC to the LDAC is 15M.  Up to
2KM of cable is allowed between the LDAC and the first Network card, and likewise up to 2KM
between each subsequent Network card.
NOTE 1: On early type Network cards the 8 PIN IC marked U4 must be removed from the LAST
CARD
in the daisy chain.  Later type Network cards have two relays on the PCB and when these are
used the IC does not require removal.  Also with the newer type cards, the relays effectively bypass
the Network card should power be lost, whereas the older type cards would cause a network lock-up.
