Chapter 4
Operational Concepts and Configuration Examples
This chapter provides information about the X330WAN functional concepts, as well
as sample configurations illustrating the implementation of these concepts. This
chapter contains the following sections:
 - Describes the X330WAN physical and virtual
interfaces, and their uses.
 - Provides information about Static Route
Configuration, Export Default Metric, OSPF Dynamic Cost Support, RIP
Distribution Access Lists, and Fragmentation and Reassembly.
This section contains a sample configuration illustrating the implementation of
these concepts.
 - Provides a description of backup interfaces, and describes
how to implement them on X330WAN.
 - Provides information about the X330WAN’s QoS
implementation for PPP encapsulation and Frame Relay encapsulation.
 - Provides information about controlling network access to the
X330WAN.
 - Describes the X330WAN’s implementation
of cRTP.
 - Describes how X330WAN uses Quality of Service,
and handles VoIP traffic.
 - Provides a sample configuration illustrating the implementation of the
above concepts.
 - Provides a
sample configuration illustrating the above concepts with DEFINITY.
Detailed Interface Concepts
X330WAN includes physical, Layer 2 virtual, and Layer 3 routing interfaces.
Physical Interfaces
The following are the X330WAN physical interfaces:
