IP-assignment
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) can be selected when a DHCP server is present. When
using DHCP, IP-address and IP-subnet mask is not used because these parameters are assigned by the
DHCP server. When using DHCP the IP address given is displayed in the boot-up text and in ‘Test
Subsystem’.
If Static is selected, the codec’s IP-address and IP-subnet mask must be specified in the IP-address field.
IP-address
A IP-address defines the network address of the codec and is defined by 4 numbers in the range of 0-255.
This address is only used in static mode. The IP-address can be found in the boot-up text.
IP-subnet mask
A IP-subnet mask defines the type of network and is defined by 4 numbers in the range 0-255. This address
is only used in static mode.
If the setting is 255.255.255.0 the local network can have 256 nodes. This is a class C network.
If the setting is 255.255.0.0 the local network can have 65536 nodes. This is a class B network.
Gateway
When using DHCP, the default gateway should automatically be set. If the LAN utilizes static IP’s, an IP
number, subnet mask, and default gateway must be specified by the LAN administrator.
See section ‘Ethernet Functionality’ for further information.
Note
The IP-address and IP-subnet mask entries
will be greyed out when IP-assignment is
set to DHCP and are then not valid.
