Cayman 2E-H-W User’s Guide
Configuring Your Cayman 2E-H-W
November 2000
3-21
2.
Enter the subnet mask for the network connected to the
Cayman 2E-H-W’s WAN Ethernet port in the
Net Mask
field.
The subnet mask specifies which bits of the 32-bit binary IP
address represent network information. Most sites should use
255.255.255.0
 for their subnet mask.
If you want your Cayman 2E-H-W to acquire the subnet mask for
its WAN port from a DHCP server on your backbone network,
enter
0.0.0.0
.
3.
Use the
NAT On/Off buttons to specify whether you want
the Cayman 2E-H-W to use network address translation.
4.
Use the
Admin Restrictions list to specify whether the
Cayman 2E-H-W accepts administrative commands
received over the WAN port.
Options are:
None – All traffic is accepted over this port.
Admin-Disabled – Router traffic is accepted over this port
but administration commands are ignored.
5.
Click the
Save button to store your modified
configuration in the Cayman 2E-H-W memory.
6.
Click the
Restart Cayman-2E button on the Cayman
2E-H-W Home Page to restart your Cayman 2E-H-W
with its new configuration.
PPPoE is On
If you turn on PPPoE for the Cayman 2E-H-W’s WAN port (meaning
that your Cayman 2E-H-W uses PPP framing over its WAN interface),
you will see a different window (Figure 3-9) when you click the
Ethernet B (PPPoE) button on the Cayman 2E-H-W Home Page.
