CTRL Characters for Form Messages
A form message is a display of characters that allows the operator to enter information into a
specific field on the DOS terminal. See “Form Messages” later in this chapter.

CTRL Characters for Non-Form Messages
A non-form message is a message that does not include data input fields. Non-form messages can

CTRL Characters and the Beep Pattern
A DOS terminal has a beeper for calling the operator's attention to certain occurrences. The
beeper is an additional means of communication between the host computer and the DOS terminal
operator. This communication frees up the operator's eyes to focus on the job without having to
look at the screen.

You can set the beep pattern so that it beeps three times for an error message and two times for a
form message.
