Using USB storage devices
You can plug a USB storage device into the LCM for transferring information to and
from the library. Do not leave a USB storage device plugged into the LCM indefinitely,
unless specifically directed to do so by Spectra Logic Technical Support.
Note:
Not all USB storage devices are compatible with the library. If you are
unable to access a USB storage device from the library, remove it and use
a different one. If the LCM stops responding after you insert an
incompatible USB storage device, reboot the LCM as described in the
Spectra T120 Library User Guide.
Configuring the Library
Partition Creation
Only one user can configure a partition at a time. A maximum of six (6) total partitions
per physical library can be configured.
Configuration Changes
In order to ensure the correct configuration of your library, always use the Spectra
T120 library LC (front panel) when adding or removing hardware.
Advanced Configuration: Firmware Package Servers
Both Microsoft’s Internet Information Services (IIS) and the Unix-based Apache server
work as package servers. (Package servers are defined in the library user guide.)
Operating Systems and Backup Software
For the most up-to-date compatibility matrices, visit Spectra Logic’s Web site at:
Microsoft Windows Removable Storage Manager (RSM)
Microsoft Windows RSM requires a driver for the library. Spectra Logic is currently
testing this driver. Contact Spectra Logic (see Contacting Spectra Logic on page 4) for
more information about the RSM driver for the library.
Microsoft iSCSI Software Initiator
When using the Microsoft iSCSI Software Initiator, Spectra Logic recommends using a
maximum block size limit of 64 Kb. When block sizes larger that 64 Kb are used, the
driver breaks up the blocks into 64-Kb chunks.
