Accessing the Library via the Remote Library Controller (RLC)

Do not start and run more than two (2) RLC sessions simultaneously. Heavy usage 
causes a Page cannot be displayed error.

Remote access to the library through the RLC is only supported using the following 
web browsers:

ƒ Microsoft’s Internet Explorer versions 6.0 and above
ƒ Mozilla Firefox versions 1.0.7 and above

IP SANs should be based on Gigabit Ethernet 1000BaseT network topography. Since 
backups and storage networks create a good deal of traffic, a dedicated subnet should 
be utilized. IP SANs should not be sharing bandwidth with regular user LAN traffic.

The best performance with iSCSI is achieved by setting the iSCSI parameters to the 
following state:

ƒ R2T = No
ƒ Immediate Data = Yes or No

The parameters below can be set to the maximum values listed below:
ƒ First Burst Length = 128K
ƒ Maximum Burst Length = 256K
ƒ Maximum Receive Buffer Length = 64K

Best performance is achieved by setting these values to their maximum value.

Important

When accessing the library remotely through a web browser, 
do not use the Enter key on your keyboard when entering 
information in any of the text fields. Various web browsers 
handle the Enter key differently, causing inconsistent behavior 
in the BlueScale RLC interface. Click the onscreen buttons in 
BlueScale screens instead of using your keyboard.
