Chapter 7 – Using the Library
67
In a shared EE port environment, the eight EE port slots, called import slots, are only
visible to one partition at a time. At all other times the eight import slots are
unavailable. This prevents tapes from accidently being swapped back and forth
between partitions.
When the host software wants to eject a tape, it moves the tape to the ninth EE slot,
however, no physical move happens. Instead, the library marks the slot with the
exception flag and reports the slot as Reserved for Front Panel. This prevents the host
software from moving the tape and lets the front panel eject the tape at a later time.
Ejecting Queued Tapes
After a tape is queued for ejecting, an asterisk (circled in Figure 23) appears next to the
queued tape on the partition inventory screen. Select the Eject Queued Tapes button to
physically eject the queued tapes from the library.
Monitoring Library Performance: Library Metrics
The library now includes the following metrics for monitoring the
operation of your library and its drives.
