Troubleshooting All Drive Types

If you have been successfully operating the backup software and library in 
the past, but are now experiencing problems reading and writing data, 
check the following:
ƒ Write-protect switch. If you are writing data to a cartridge, make sure 

that the cartridge is write-enabled (see 

) before importing it into the library.

ƒ Cartridge age. If a tape cartridge has been in use for a long time or if it 

has been used frequently, try using a new cartridge.

ƒ Cleaning. Clean the tape drive(s) as described in 

.

Firmware packages are groupings of program code that are used to update 
the library and its components. This section covers the following

Spectra Logic provides complete support for the most currently shipped 
releases of firmware packages. Customers using previously released 
firmware packages are asked to upgrade to the current release.
