Release Notes

Before You Begin
Check the version of your library’s firmware package and compare it with
the most current version available on the Spectra Logic web site, as
described in the Spectra T950 Library User Guide. If a newer version of the
firmware is available, proceed with the firmware upgrade.
ƒ Download the most current version of the BlueScale firmware package
from the Spectra Logic web site at
Save the downloaded firmware package to one of the following
locations:
ƒ A USB key
ƒ Your firmware package server
Note:
You can also upgrade the firmware using a direct connection to
the Spectra Logic Web site if your library is on a network that has
internet access.
ƒ Confirm that all of the following conditions are met before beginning
the firmware upgrade process:
ƒ All backup processes have completed
ƒ All backup software daemons are stopped
ƒ All drives are empty
Update the Firmware
1. Follow the firmware updates instructions in the Spectra T950 User
Guide.
2. After you select Update to begin the firmware update process, a
progress screen appears for the duration of the update, which may take
several minutes. When completed, the Package Results screen displays,
showing that the update completed successfully.
3. Select Finish to complete the firmware update and reboot the library.
Firmware updates do not take effect until the library completes the
update process and automatically reboots.
Note:
If you are accessing the library through a web browser (using
RLC) to update firmware, the connection to the library is lost
when the library reboots. Allow sufficient time for the library to
complete its initialization, then enter the library’s IP address in
your web browser to reconnect.
Caution
Always select
Finish to complete the update process and reboot the library. Do
not manually reboot the LCM, power-cycle the library, or perform any other
operations on the library when you see the Package Results screen. Doing so will
cause the update process to fail.
