Make sure that the fan runs briefly, which indicates that the power supply is operational.

Verify that the formatter “heartbeat” LED is blinking. See

heartbeat LED indicates that the formatter is fully functional. If the heartbeat LED is not blinking,
reseat the compact flash card and the formatter assembly.

If the scanner base fan is not operating, verify that all connectors to the power supply and the
scanner base fan are correctly seated. If the fan is still not functional, replace the components one by
one until the system is functional.

It is important to have the control panel functional as soon as possible in the

troubleshooting process so that the control-panel display can be used to help locate digital-
sender errors.
