Scanning Your Wireless Device
Overview of on-the-device scanning
For wireless devices, such as Palm Pilots and Handspring Visors, McAfee
VirusScan offers another level of protection - Resident Scanning. With
Resident Scanning, VirusScan can protect your wireless device from infection
even when you transfer files from your personal computer or access the
Internet wirelessly. VirusScan is the only solution that offers both resident and
on-synchronization protection for wireless devices.
TIP
Please be sure to remove earlier versions of McAfee VirusScan
software from your wireless device before performing the initial
HotSync operation.
The VirusScan Professional program downloads from your personal
computer to your wireless device as you perform your initial data
synchronization operation. The Resident Scanner resides on your wireless
device and allows you to scan the device at any time, without having to be
connected to your personal computer.
There are two types of scanning operations that VirusScan Professional allows
you to perform:
n
On-Demand Scanning
: Scan your device at any time, at your
convenience.
n
On-Access Scanning
: VirusScan scans your wireless device as you
access files, programs, and applications while your wireless device is
running. VirusScan is “always-on.”
