When employing Ethernet IP multinetting, only one network can use the DHCP feature.

Figure 4-3 shows a 5100/6100 VDR in an Ethernet multinetted environment with DHCP set up
on Network 1. The IP addresses for Network 1 are segmented into two subnets: 10.10.10.0 and
10.10.10.128. The IP address range for the 10.10.10.0 subnet is 10.10.10.1 to 10.10.10.126 with
10.10.10.127 as the broadcast address for DHCP static hosts. For subnet 10.10.10.128, the IP
address range is 10.10.10.129 to 10.10.10.253. IP address 10.10.10.254 is assigned to the 5100/
6100 VDR as an Ethernet LAN address and 10.10.10.255 is the DHCP broadcast address.
Network 2 is a PC host with an IP address of 13.13.13.1 on the network 13.13.13.0. The default

gateway for Network 2 is 13.13.13.254.
