The mode (decoded/encoded) of Dolby digital audio signal transmitted from 
the digital output jack of the DVD recorder.
 
Select ‘PCM’ when your amplifier does not have an integrated Dolby 
Digital decoder. Select ‘Bit Stream’ when your amplifier has an 
integrated Dolby Digital decoder.
 
Some audio language in DVD-Video are recorded using the DTS format. 
If you have selected one of these languages, there will be no sound 
during playback. Choose those recorded using the Dolby Digital format 
instead to enjoy the sound effect.
MPEG

The mode(decoded/encoded) of MPEG signal transmitted from the digital 
output jack of the DVD recorder.
Select ‘PCM’ when your amplifier does not have an integrated 
MPEG audio decoder. Select ‘Bit Stream’ when your amplifier has an 
integrated MPEG decoder.
HDMI Audio

The mode of audio signal transmitted via HDMI cable (Select models only)
 
Under the default setting ‘Auto’, the DVD recorder output the 
optimum signal that can be received by TV. However, if there is still 
sound loss or noise when using a HDMI cable to transmit audio 
signal, select PCM instead.
 
If the HDMI cable is used to connect an equipment incompatible 
with Dolby digital/MPEG signal, the PCM will be output regardless 
of the setting of ‘Digital Out’ and ‘MPEG’.
