INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your pur
chase of ENERGY
®
speakers! Pr
oprietary
technology and high quality manufacturing will allow you to enjoy the most
natural and accurate music r
epr
oduction for many years. The advice of
fer
ed in
this manual is aimed at helping you maximize and maintain peak
performance, and ther
efor
e, your listening satisfaction.  Please take the time
to r
ead all of the instructions contained in this manual to make certain your
system is pr
operly installed and functioning corr
ectly
.
BREAK-IN PERIOD
W
e
 str
ongly advise that you r
esist the temptation to play your ENERGY
®
speakers loudly until they have been pr
operly br
oken in. It’
s important to
ensur
e the drivers have had time to loosen up a bit. This pr
ocess should
last appr
oximately 50 hours. This can be easily be done by putting your
compact disc player on Repeat mode, while playing a CD with a wide dynamic
range at normal listening levels.
SPEAKER AND SUBWOOFER PLACEMENT
Fr
ont Speak
er Placement  (Diagr
am 1)
For best ster
eo imaging, the left and right speakers should be the same
distance fr
om their r
espective side walls. If the distance fr
om one speaker to
the listener is very dif
fer
ent fr
om the other it can af
fect the soundstage or
ster
eo imaging. Ther
efor
e, the ideal position is having the speakers
equidistant to the listener
.
A general guideline for speaker placement is to set up the space between
speaker and listener at appr
oximately 1-1/2  times the distance between the
speakers.  For example, if the speakers ar
e placed a minimum of 6-feet (1.8m)
apart (the absolute minimum), the best seating position would be
9-feet (2.4m) away
Center Channel Placement  (Diagr
am 1)
A center channel can be expected to r
epr
oduce as much as 60% of a movie's
soundtrack, most of which is dialogue. In or
der to maintain the ef
fect of
voices emanating fr
om the actor's mouth, the center speaker should be
centrally located between the left and right main channels and placed above
or below the television. Be sur
e that the center speaker’
fr
ont baf
fle is flush with the fr
ont face of the television or cabinet to
maximize dispersion.
The T
ake FPS speakers ar
e equipped with magnetic logos.
In the event that the speaker is mounted upside-down or in a
horizontal/vertical position, simply r
emove and r
otate the logo.
SPEAKER CONNECTIONS
CAUTION:  * T
u
rn
 of
f all power in your audio/video system befor
e
pr
oceeding with your installation. Not doing so could r
e
sult in potential
damage to the system.
Connecting the Speak
er
s (Diagr
am 2)
On the back of your ENERGY
®
Take FPS speakers ar
e r
ed and black spring
connectors. Using standar
d speaker wir
e, connect the system one channel at a
time, and start your pr
ocess at the Receiver
. Pr
ess down on the terminal, insert
the wir
e and r
elease. Connect the speaker wir
e fr
om the positive (RED+)
terminal on the r
eceiver to the positive (RED+) terminal on the speaker
.
Connect the negative (BLACK-) terminal on the r
eceiver to the negative
(BLACK-) terminal on the speaker
.  Do this one channel at a time until all of
your speakers ar
e connected pr
operly
. Be car
eful to corr
ectly match positive
and negative, as well as the corr
ect speaker to the corr
ect channel.
NOTE: If you inadvertently r
everse one of the connections (i.e, r
ed to
black), you will notice a sever
e
 lack of bass fr
om your system. This is
called wiring the system “Out of Phase”. If this occurs, check the wiring
and r
e-connect as necessary
.

RECOMMENDA
TIONS
Receiver Settings
The r
ecommended setting for the T
ake FPS speakers is the “large” position.
The Subwoofer must be activated by setting the “on” or “use” settings. Set
the cr
ossover fr
equency (if possible) to 80Hz.
Amplifier Requir
ements
All ENERGY Speakers ar
e designed to operate on a wide range of r
eceivers
and/or amplifiers. The impedance for all models is rated at 8 ohms, allowing
almost any amplifier to function well. Of course, the better the amplifier and
the system components, the better the overall system will sound.
W
ARNING: If an amplifier or r
eceiver is over
-driven, the r
esulting
distortion is actually many times gr
eater than its rated power
.  Over
-
driven amplifier distortion is called “Clipping”, easily identified by its
fuzzy
, distorted sound, and can damage any speaker
.  The volume contr
ol
of most amplifiers and r
eceivers is a logarithmic type, which means that
full power may be r
eached with the volume contr
ol set at as little as the
halfway point.  Operating the loudness, tr
eble, or bass contr
ols incr
eases
power output well beyond rated levels.  The warranty on your speakers
is ther
efor
e void if the voice coils ar
e bur
ned or damaged as a r
esult of
overpowering or clipping.
Car
e of Finishes
Y
our ENERGY
®
Speakers should be gently wiped clean with a warm, lint
fr
ee cloth. Do not use any type of cleaner
, or abrasive as they can damage the
finish.
