Troubleshooting 
Front Panel Messages
Your printer displays messages on the front panel when operator intervention is required. 
The two-line display of the front panel provides information about the condition of the 
printer and the suggested or required course of action. 
There are two types of messages that require action:
Fault messages appear when the printer stops due to a malfunction, such as a paper 
jam. Action must be taken to resolve the fault.
Attention messages do not stop the printer, but warn of action that should be taken to 
avert a shutdown.
The table below lists fault and attention messages in alphabetical order, along with an 
explanation and corrective action.

The indicated tray is not installed. Make sure 
the tray is fully inserted.
Controller Fan Error U8
Power Off/On
Fault
An error has been detected with the 
controller cavity cooling fan. Turn off the 
printer, wait 15 seconds, then turn on the 
printer. If the problem persists, check the 
support links at

Disk Read [Write] Error
Press Enter To Clear
Attention
There was a hard disk read error that 
prevented the data from being read. Press the 
Enter button to clear the message. Turn off 
the printer, wait 15 seconds, then turn on the 
printer. If the problem persists, check the
