  When mounting the unit to an equipment rack, ensure that the rack is bolted 

to the floor. 



  Because you will probably be installing more than one unit  into the rack, 

ensure that the weight of all the units installed does not make the rack 
unstable. 

Warning! To prevent bodily injury when mounting or servicing this unit in a rack, 
you must take special precautions to ensure that the system remains stable. The 
following guidelines are provided to ensure your safety: 

-  This unit should be mounted at the bottom of the rack if it is the only unit 

in the rack. 

-  When mounting this unit in a partially filled rack, load the rack from the 

bottom to the top with the heaviest component at the bottom of the rack. 

-  If the rack is provided with stabilizing devices, install the stabilizers before 

mounting or servicing the unit in 

-

Caution! Some equipment racks are also secured to ceiling brackets, if 
necessary, due to the weight of the equipment in the rack. Make sure that the 
rack you are using to install the device is secured to the building structure. 



  As mentioned in 

, maintain a 6-inch (15.2-cm) clearance at 

the front and rear of the unit to ensure adequate air intake and exhaust. 



  Avoid installing the unit in an overly congested rack. Air flowing to or from 

other devices in the rack might interfere with the normal flow of cooling air 
through the devices, increasing the potential for over-temperature conditions 
within the devices. See

  Allow at least 24 inches (61 cm) of clearance at the front and rear of the rack 

for server maintenance. 

Caution! To prevent the unit from over-heating, never install the server in an 
enclosed rack or room that is not properly ventilated or air conditioned. 



  Follow your local practices for 

. Ensure that cables to and 

from the appliances do not impede access to perform equipment 
maintenance or upgrades. 

Before installing your server in a rack, review the following guidelines: 



  Two or more people are required to install the unit in a rack. 



  Ensure that the room air temperature is below 95°F (35°C). 



  Do not block any air vents; usually 6 inches (15 cm) of space provides proper 

airflow. 



  Plan the device installation starting from the bottom of the rack. 



  Install the heaviest device in the bottom of the rack. 



  Do not extend more than one device out of the rack at the same time. 



  Remove the rack doors and side panels to provide easier access during 

installation. 



  Connect the server to a properly grounded outlet. 



  Do not overload the power outlet when installing multiple devices in the rack.
