f) Setting Function “BACKLIGHT”
The backlight compensation must be set depending on camera alignment, e.g. if the camera may
point at the sun at some point during the day.
“OFF”
Backlight compensation off
“BLC”
Backlight compensation on
“HLC”
Backlight compensation and an additional masking function for too-bright
image area are activated (too-bright image areas are automatically masked
in „black“)

This
setting
falsifi es the image (too-light image areas are coloured black), but
also permits easier observation of the objects right next to the bright image
parts and even better recording of the image signals.

It also protects older tube monitors or plasma screens from burning in of
too-light image areas that are displayed for a long period (not required for
screens with LCD technology).
g) Setting Function “PICT ADJUST”
This summarises all functions for setting the image:
“MIRROR”
Horizontal image mirroring on/off
“BRIGHTNESS” brightness
“CONTRAST” contrast
“SHARPNESS” image
sharpness
“HUE” Hue
“GAIN” Intensity
h) Setting Function “ATR”
This function improves presentation of images with a strong contrast between dark and light im-
age areas.
If a camera is pointed, e.g., at a bright window from the inside, the image will show hardly any-
thing except for the bright window.
If the function is activated (Setting “ON”), the camera increases both brightness and contrast in
the dark areas.
The function is very important at night, so that, e.g., passing vehicles with bright lighting will not
cause the area around them to become invisible.
