Warning
Blank faceplates and cover panels serve three important functions: they prevent exposure t o
hazardous voltages and currents inside the chassis; they contain electromagnetic interference (EMI)
that might disrupt other equipment; and they direct the flow of cooling air through the chassi s. Do not
operate the system unless all cards, facepl ates, front covers, and rear covers are in place.

If the power sup ply bay is to remain empty, in stall a blank power supply filler plate over the opening.

Installing a Power Supply

Follow these steps to install a power su pply:
Step 1

Loosen the two Phillips -head s crews fro m the power sup ply filler plate (if a filler plate is present).

Remove the power sup ply filler plate (if one is presen t) an d s et it aside.

Grasp a power supp ly handle with one hand. Place y our other hand undern eath to sup port the bo ttom of
th e power su pply.

Slide the power su pply almo st all the way into the p ower supply bay. Press with both thu mb s evenly to

Using a screwd river, tighten the two captive installation screws o n the fron t panel of the p ower supp ly.
Step 7
Make sure the power supply power switch is in the off p osition (O).
Step 8
Befo re y ou co nnect the p ower supp ly to a power sou rce, en sure that all s ite power and ground ing

Plug the power cord o r co rds into the power sup ply.

Con nect the oth er end of the power cord to a power in put source.

In a system with multiple p ower supplies, connect each p ower supply to a sep arate p ower source. In the
even t of a power s ource failu re, if th e seco nd source is still available, it can main tain maximum
overcurrent protection for each power conn ection.
