Graphics Mode
.
NOTE
This feature is only available on the PCL5e driver. It is not available on the PCL6
driver.
Change this setting to specify how the print driver sends graphic information to the
printer. This setting works in conjunction with the Image Quality and
 options.
Select one of the following settings:
• Vector Mode: The driver uses graphic drawing functions on the printer to produce
graphics. This improves the print time by letting the printer draw lines, circles, and
other objects, resulting in less data being sent to the printer.
• Raster Mode: The driver draws lines, circles, and other objects in the print driver and
then sends the finished image to the printer. This can be slower then Vector Mode
because more data is sent to the printer but graphics may have better quality.
NOTE
Changing modes may affect how graphics appear in the printed documents. If you
encounter an error or the graphics are unsatisfactory when using Vector Mode, select
Raster Mode and reprint your job.
Gray Scale
.
Change this setting to specify the Gray Scale color model for your documents. Gray Scale
refers to a color model that represents colors as variations or levels of gray. It is specifically
designed for scanned photographs (either black and white or color) that are being printed
in black and white.
Select one of the following settings:
• Normal: This setting provides the best overall image quality for most black and white
or color documents. It provides a soft contrast among the various shades of gray.
• Higher Contrast: This setting enhances the contrast of printed output by producing
solid lines and sharp contrasts between shaded areas. This setting is best used for
line art or images that have a large amount of graphic or text detail.
• Higher Brightness: This setting enhances the brightness of printed output. It is specially
tuned to provide exceptional quality and clarity to printed images from scanned
originals.
NOTE
The sample image changes to represent the selected setting.
