Introduction
The Datalog 3 system will connect directly to an RS232 I/O port on a Europlex Ltd., 3GS or Aplex
control panel (via a suitable 5V/RS232 convertor). The system uses the Esco command codes to
control the operation of the panels by the Datalog.
The Datalog maps and interprets the Europlex alarm inputs as standard Datalog zones, where each
Europlex zone represents a single Datalog zone. Europlex internal events such as battery problem,
cabinet tamper, communication failure etc., are also reported via the Datalog.
On power up, the Datalog can configure the input types on the 3GS/Aplex if required. The power up
check will also disable unused inputs and redefine any literals present within the APLEX.DAT file. All
of this is automatic.
The input states of all zones are recorded when the Datalog initializes, and from this point, the
Datalog monitors the 3GS/Aplex waiting for alarm events. The panel should be run in `STAND-BY’
mode for normal program operation, with all control originating from Datalog. Should ‘stand-alone’
3GS/Aplex operation be required then this can be achieved by  ‘Arming’ the panel(s).
Installation Connection to 3GS Panel
Connect all Node’s to the 3GS system following the normal manufacturer's procedures.  Connect the
Datalog to a serial port on the 3GS (COM2 is normally used for the Datalog but check the Datalog
documentation) following the relevant connection diagram below (or  if line drivers are in use consult
the line driver manual).
Note connections are shown for 9 or 25 way D-type Connectors at the PC.
