Conducting a test copy, scan, and fax
Making a test copy

Load an original document faceup, short-edge first into the ADF or facedown on the scanner glass.
Note: Do not load postcards, photos, small items, transparencies, photo paper, or thin media (such as magazine
clippings) into the ADF. Place these items on the scanner glass.

If you are loading a document into the ADF, adjust the paper guides.

From the control panel, press

Note: If an LDSS profile has been installed, you may receive an error when attempting a quick test copy. Contact
your system support person for access.
Sending a test fax
Send a one-page test fax to someone, and ask for feedback.
Note: If Send/Fax is disabled, this menu item does not appear.

On the home screen, touch Fax.

Use the virtual keypad or the control panel keypad to enter the fax number.
To add recipients, touch Next Number, and then type the recipient's telephone number or shortcut number, or
search the address book.
Note: To place a two-second dial pause within a fax number, touch 
.
The dial pause appears as a comma in the Fax to: box. Use this feature if you need to dial an outside line first.

Touch Fax It.
Testing a scan to PC profile

Open a Web browser.

In the address bar, type the IP address of the printer.

Press Enter.
If the Java applet screen appears, click Yes.

Click Scan Profile.

Click Create Scan Profile.

Select your scan settings, and then click Next.

Select a folder on your computer where you want to save the scanned output file.

Enter a profile name.
profile name is the name that appears in the Scan Profile list on the display.
