Account Balances and Low Balance Limits
If Accounting=”User accounting and log file” in the queue configuration, then XCounter
will maintain user account balances using the Novell Accounting feature (Bindery
version) or NDS. For each print job, the account balance is charged (the number of
pages printed) * (the Queue paper size price). To enforce the queue low balance limit
options, a user's account balance must not exceed the low balance limit, or else
printing is denied.

The XCOUNTER.LOG log file
XCounter keeps a track of all print activity in the log file xcounter.log. Users using
XManager should be granted Read/Write privileges in this directory. It can be located
on any volume on any Netware server, allowing all of the print data to be kept for
multiple servers in one location

The xcounter.log file is written in ASCII delimited format. XManager generates reports
and print histories by reading this file. The log file can also be imported into a
spreadsheet report writer or database program for more detailed analysis.

Note: When XCounter accesses a remote server, it will use a licensed connection on
that server. If the remote server goes down, XCounter will keep the log file in the local
\SYS\SYSTEM\XCOUNTER
