Planning
This chapter describes the telephony and LAN planning for the
MeetingPlace Conference Server. Use the information in this chapter to
prepare for the installation of the MeetingPlace system components. Also
included are worksheets to use as a checklist for MeetingPlace’s hardware
and software requirements.

MeetingPlace includes the following hardware and software components:

The conference server hardware is a call/voice-processing hardware
platform that connects to the telephone network and to a compatible LAN.

The conference server software controls the platform and provides
MeetingPlace functions to desktops on the LAN. It also provides digital
telephony access to Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) callers and

The desktop software communicates with MeetingPlace over the LAN or

MeetingTime, MeetingPlace E-mail Gateway, MeetingPlace for Outlook,
MeetingPlace for Notes, MeetingPlace Web, MeetingPlace Directory
Services, and MeetingPlace IP Gateway.
