Starting and Attending Reservationless Meetings
Any profile user can start a reservationless meeting through their touchtone
phone by calling the server and entering their profile number as the meeting
ID. Their existing profile password confirms the user’s identity and starts the
reservationless meeting.
The meeting organizer is responsible for forwarding this meeting ID to all
invited participants.
The following steps describe the general procedure for starting and attending
a meeting:
1.

Participants attend a reservationless meeting in any of the following
ways:

Direct dialing the server through their touchtone phone

Having a participant outdial to them from within the meeting

Having MeetingPlace outdial to them from the MeetingPlace Web
meeting details page
2.

Invited participants enter the scheduler’s profile number as the meeting
ID.
3.

When participants enter, the system determines if the meeting has
started.

If the meeting has started, the participants may join the meeting.

If the meeting has not started, participants are placed in a waiting
room until the organizer arrives and starts the meeting. People in the
waiting room cannot talk with each other.
4.

After the organizer starts the meeting, participants in the waiting room
are moved onto the main floor of the meeting.
If the organizer is late or absent, any user with a profile on the system
may activate the meeting by entering their profile number and password,
and then bringing the meeting to order.
