Cisco Collaboration Server ScriptBuilder Guide – Version 5.0
Benefits of Creating User-defined Scripts
Creating user-defined scripts offers you the following benefits:
•  If you know JavaScript and HTML, you can create scripts quickly and easily
•  You control the appearance of the script within the agent's Script Viewer.  For
example, you select the text formatting and the color of the background, links,
and text.  You can also add images and other features to your scripts.
Although user-defined scripts offer you many benefits, you cannot add PowerPoint
presentations or files to your user-defined scripts.  If you want to add PowerPoint
presentations or files, or do not want to write the code for your script, you may want
to create a script through ScriptBuilder.  ScriptBuilder guides you through the script
creation process and allows you to add PowerPoint presentations and files to your
scripts.
Relationship between User-defined Scripts and ScriptBuilder
Although you create user-defined scripts using HTML and JavaScript functions, you
must perform script administration through ScriptBuilder.  ScriptBuilder allows you to
accomplish the following administrative tasks:
•  Provide a name and description for the script on the Collaboration Server
•  Give the Collaboration Server the path to the script, which allows the script to
appear in the Script Viewer on the agent desktop
•  Associate the script with skill groups, which determines which agents can use the
script
•  Delete the script from Collaboration Server when it is no longer needed
User-defined Scripts in the Script Viewer
Agents share scripts from the Script Viewer area of the agent desktop. The left side
of the Script Viewer displays the script menu, which includes the scripts that an
agent can access.  The script menu can include only ScriptBuilder scripts, only user-
defined scripts, or a mixture of both.
When an agent selects a user-defined script, the script's contents appear in the
entire the Script Viewer area.  Agents share items from this list of contents by
clicking the titles of script items.  You should include a Back button or link in the
script so that agents can return to the script menu.
