Managing Updates

Overview, Continued
How Updates Work
The TSBroadcaster updates the content of the output transport stream when the file
system changes. If the updated file is selected for rapid update and the new content
fits within the maximum size of the file, the update is preemptively inserted into the
output transport stream. In all other cases, the carousel is re-built, allowing the
module structure to adapt to the new content. This process takes longer than a rapid
update, and is subject to a minimum rebuild interval to ensure carousel stability.
When the TSBroadcaster performs an update, it does not change the application set.
When the TSBroadcaster performs an update, it does not change the application set.
An update changes the copy of the application set that is currently being played out.
When the playout stops, all updates are lost. Whenever an application starts being
played out, it will start playing out its original content with polled updates re-
applied, if necessary.
