Using the TSBroadcaster

Stream Management
Introduction
You can use the TSBroadcaster to set up and manage Transport Stream definitions. A
Transport Stream definition determines the structure and content of the Transport
Streams generated by the TSBroadcaster.
Components of the Transport Stream
A Transport Stream generated by the TSBroadcaster is an MPEG Transport Stream
that contains the following components:
•
One Program Allocation Table (PAT) - the PAT references the PMT of each service
•
One Program Map Table (PMT) per program/service - the PMT references
•
The object carousels allocated to the service
•
The AIT for the service
•
The elementary stream defined by the stream event channel
•
The components of the AV content selected for the service
•
One Application Information Table (AIT) per program/service
•
Zero or more DSM-CC Object Carousels
•
Optional elementary Stream to carry DSM-CC Stream Events
•
AV content - The AV content defines the characteristics of the audio and video
components multiplexed into the transport stream, thus allowing them to be
referenced from PMTs
Transport Stream Modifications
When you modify a Transport Stream, the TSBroadcaster immediately regenerates
the Transport Stream to match the new definition. The version numbers of the tables
in the Transport Stream are automatically incremented to reflect the changes.
The TSBroadcaster needs specific OCAP information about the Transport Stream
and the services carried in it to be able to produce the OCAP tables. The
TSBroadcaster provides a specific interface for stream and service management for
OCAP.
Important:  You must have ManageStreams privileges to modify a transport stream.
