Introduction 
PPV services, like clear broadcasts, are always available to subscribers 
whenever they tune to a channel carrying the service. The channel 
displays the service on the subscriber’s television. The channel 
displays a barker that advertises the events that are available for 
purchase. 
There are no control mechanisms or package restrictions that prevent 
subscribers from accessing the channels where PPV services are 
offered. Any subscriber can simply tune to a channel that displays the 
service and order the event. However, the events are considered 
“secure” because even though the channels are not restricted, the 
events are only available to subscribers who order them. 
This chapter provides steps for creating, modifying, and deleting 
secure PPV services and events.
