Chapter 8 Troubleshooting Tips
CDP Problems
Step 2
Enter enable to Turn on the Privilege command.

Go to Services Configuration > Silent Monitoring and Recording > VOIP Monitor Device.
After making the above changes, the phone devices should be listed under VOIP Monitor Device.
CDP Problems
This section contains the follwoing troubleshooting tip:
CDP Protocol Driver missing in Device Manager
Symptom
When a repair action is performed on the node, it causes the CDP Protocol Driver to go missing
from Device Manager.
Workaround:
Step 1
Confirm the presence of cdp.sys in the location: C:\winNT\system32\drivers.
Step 2
Open the Registry and go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services.
Step 3
Look for the CDP entry by following these steps:
a.
Right-click My Computer, and choose Properties from the popup menu to open the System
Properties window.

In the System Properties window, click Device Manager on the Hardware tab to open the Device
Manager window.

Click on the View Menu and check the show hidden devices item.
d.
From the View Menu select Devices by connection.

Right-Click on any node and select Scan for Hardware Changes.
Check if the CDP Driver Protocol exists. If it exists, the CDP driver should be installed.
