   KN-304 Quick Configuration Guide
■ Using the “MAP” Setup Utility
● Overview of the Management Access Program (MAP)
The KN-304 is loaded with an HTTP server equipped with a web utility.  Accessing this HTTP server allows
printer settings to be changed.  Moreover, a setup utility referred to as “MAP” is contained on the accessory CD-
ROM provided.  Use of MAP makes it possible to automatically detect a KN-304 on a network and display a list
of web browsers.  The procedure consists of selecting the KN-304 for which settings are to be changed, and
operating the web utility from a web browser.
● Installation Conditions
MAP is a utility program that operates with Windows 95, 98 or NT.  This utility detects any KN-304 on a network
and establishes a connection with the HTTP server loaded in the KN-304.  Since MAP itself is not provided with
an interface, either of the web browsers shown below is required for use as an interface.
•
Netscape Navigator (version 4.x or later)
•
Internet Explorer (version 4.x or later)
Consequently, it is necessary that TCP/IP setup be completed for both the KN-304 and Windows-compatible
computer.  In addition, it is necessary that an IPX protocol be set up to search for a KN-304 using IPX.
● MAP Installation
The procedure for installing MAP is as described below.
Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and double-click on [Setup. exe] in the [Map] folder.
The setup program starts up.  Check the screen display and then click on the [Next] button.
Check the folder in which MAP is to be installed.  The default setting is C:\Program Files\Map.
When the [Next] button is clicked, the required files are copied to the designated folder to complete
installation.
