The Gigabit Ethernet module (WS-X5403) and the Gigabit EtherChannel module
(WS-X5410) provide Gigabit Ethernet ports that you can configure with any combination
of 1000BaseSX, 1000BaseLX/LH, or 1000BaseZX Gigabit Interface Converters (GBICs).
A GBIC, shown in Figure 3-7, is a hot-swappable input/output device that plugs into the
module, linking the module with the fiber-optic network.
