Safety Instructions
Damage  due  to  not  following  these  operating  instructions  will  void  the
warranty! We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!

a) General

•   Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not allo-
wed for safety and approval reasons (CE). Do not dismantle it.

•   Maintenance and repair must only be performed by an expert.

•   Do not leave packaging material lying around; it may become a dangerous
plaything for children.
b) Power adapter

•   The construction of the power adapter complies with protection class II.
Only a common mains socket must be used as power supply for the power
adapter.

•   The mains socket to which the power adapter is connected must be easily
accessible.

•   Never  remove  the  power  adapter  from  the  mains  socket  by  pulling  the
cable. Grip the sides of the housing and then pull it out of the mains socket.

•   Do not touch the power adapter if it shows signs of damage; there is a life
hazard due to an electric shock!

First switch off the power of the mains socket to which the power adapter
is connected (switch off the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the
fuse, then switch off the earth-leakage trip so that the mains socket is
completely disconnected from the mains voltage).

Then, pull out the power adapter from the mains socket. Dispose of the
damaged  power  adapter  in  an  environmentally  responsible  manner;  do
not use it again. Replace it with a power adapter that is identical in cons-
truction.
c) Operation

•   The product is not a toy. Devices operated with mains voltage do not be-
long in the hands of children. Thus, be particularly careful when children
are present.

Operate the product in such a way that children cannot reach it.

•   The product is only suitable for operation in dry, closed indoor locations.
No  part  of  the  product  must  get  damp  or  wet;  never  touch  it  with  wet
hands!

The power adapter poses a life hazard due to an electric shock!

•   Avoid the following adverse environmental conditions at the installation
location or during transport:

  -  Wetness or excessive air humidity

  -  Cold or heat, direct sunlight

  -  Dust or flammable gases, vapours or solvents

  -  Strong vibrations, blows, impacts

  -   Strong magnetic fields as occur near machines or loudspeakers

•   Select a stable, even, horizontal and sufficiently large area for installation
of the hard disk housing.

•   Never  move  the  hard  disk  housing  with  the  hard  disk  contained  inside
when it is in operation or when the magnetic disks of the hard disk conti-
nue to rotate for a few seconds after switching off. This may lead to loss
of data! Furthermore, the hard disk may be damaged when the read/write
head touches the magnetic disk.

•   Never use the product immediately after it was brought from a cold into a
warm room. The forming condensation may destroy the product. Further-
more, the power adapter poses a life hazard due to an electric shock.

Let the product reach room temperature before connecting and using it.
This may take several hours.

•   When positioning the product, make sure that the cables are not kinked or
squeezed.

•   Handle the product with care; it is damaged easily by blows, impacts or
falls from even a low height.
