When the extender is configured for Ethernet Data Type, a management console is available via the COM 
port. The console can be used by attaching a PC running a terminal emulation program (e.g. Hyperterminal) 
to the Extender’s COM port.
The following sections provide information on the commands available. Note that the letters in CAPS repre-
sent the abbreviations that may be used for the commands.

Displays a list of the available commands and a short description of each one.

This command may be used to manually establish the data connection. It is only available on the remote 
extender.

This command may be used to manually disconnect the data call.

Displays a list of the available Show commands and a short description of each one.

This command displays information about data traffic through the extender’s Ethernet port. Entering this 
command displays the following table.

The Packets line shows the number of packets that were sent and received on the Ethernet port.

In the Sent column, the Discarded line shows the number of packets that the extender attempted to send on 
the Ethernet port that were discarded, because of errors in the packet, LAN connectivity problems, etc.)

In the Received column, the Discarded line shows the number of packets that were received on the Ethernet 
port but subsequently discarded due to errors in the packet or a lack of resources to handle the packet.

The MAC Address line shows the Ethernet MAC address of the extender.
