IBM-compatible PC with a Pentium IV or faster processor, CD-ROM drive, a minimum of 1 GB 
RAM and 250 MB of available hard drive space, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows Server 2003 
and 2008, or Windows XP Professional.

To successfully run the CTC on workstations running Windows Vista or Windows 7, upgrade the CTC 
Software to R9.0 or later. Releases prior to R9.0 are not supported on Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Use the latest patch or service pack released by the OS vendor. Check with the vendor for the latest patch 
or service pack.

UNIX workstation with Solaris Version 9 or 10 on an UltraSPARC-III or faster processor, with a 
minimum of 1 GB RAM and a minimum of 250 MB of available hard drive space.

Ensure that your web browser software is one of the following:

Netscape Navigator 7.x or higher on Windows

Internet Explorer 6.x or higher on Windows

Mozilla 1.7 or higher on Solaris

Verify that Java Runtime Environment (JRE) JRE 1.6 and Java Plug-in 1.6 are both installed.

You can check the JRE version in your browser window after entering the node IP address in the 
URL window under Java Version.

Verify that the Java Policy file is installed on your computer. 

For important information on CTC backward compatibility affected by your choice of JRE 
versions, see the Readme.txt or Readme.html file on the software CD.

To install JRE 1.6, the Java Policy file, or the Software R9.2.1.x online help, refer to the installation 
instructions in the Cisco ONS 15600 Procedure Guide.

Return to your originating procedure (NTP).

This procedure preserves all configuration data for your network before 
performing the upgrade.
