Close the top cover (fig. 8.12) and then the front cover (fig. 8.13), making sure
both snap into place. If the media jam was not visible, go to “Clearing a
Cassette Area Jam” earlier in this chapter.

If the media jam was removed, the lit or blinking status light resets and printing
automatically restarts when you close the front cover.
Checklist for Frequent Jams
Is a torn piece of media still at the jam site?
Is media loaded properly?
Does the media size dial setting match the size of the loaded media?
Does the media meet its specifications in chapter 6?
Is the source cassette overloaded with media beyond the limit mark?
Is the output tray full so that media is blocked as it exits?
Is media that is printed already being used?
Is preprinted media being used?
Are the front and top printer covers closed securely?
Are all cassettes straight and fully seated in the printer?
Are the cassette side and end guides adjusted to the correct position for the
loaded media?

If media fails to feed into the printer from a cassette, use the following procedure.
