This release contains these new switch features or enhancements (available in all software images unless 
otherwise noted):

Support for MAC authentication bypass to authorize clients based on the client MAC address.

Support for authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) down policy for a NAC Layer 2 IP 
validation of a host if the AAA server is not available when the posture validation occurs. (Catalyst 
3750 and 3560 switches only.)

Supports IEEE 802.1x inaccessible authentication bypass enhancements. 

Inaccessible authentication bypass is also referred to as critical authentication. 

Link-state tracking to mirror the state of the ports that carry upstream traffic from connected hosts 
and servers, and to allow the failover of the server traffic to an operational link on another Cisco 
Ethernet switch.

Supports generic online diagnostics to test the hardware functionality of the supervisor engine.

Supports Flex Link preemptive switchovers allowing you to configure a Flex Link to complete a 
master switchover.

Support for the ip directed-broadcast interface configuration command. This command can be 
configured on a VPN routing/forwarding (VRF) interface so that directed broadcast traffic is routed 
only within the VRF. (Catalyst 3750 and 3560 switches only.)

Support for EIGRP stub routing in the IP base images.

Option-82 enhancement that allows users to configure the remote-ID and circuit-ID suboptions. 
(Catalyst 2970, 3560, and 3750 switches only.)

A new dual IPv4 and IPv6 routing template that supports IPv4 policy-based routing. (Catalyst 3750 
and 3560 advanced IP services image only.)

Neighbor discovery throttling for more efficient use of the switch CPU in an IPv6 routed 
environment. (Catalyst 3750 and 3560 advanced IP services image only.)

Support for Secure Shell (SSH) over an IPv6 transport. (Catalyst 3750 and 3560 advanced IP 
services image only.)
