Release Notes for the Catalyst 3750, 3560, and 2970 Switches, Cisco IOS Release 12.2(25)SE
OL-6359-01
Minimum Cisco IOS Release for Major Features
•
Support for DSCP transparency. If DSCP transparency is enabled, the switch does not modify the
DSCP field in the incoming packet, and the DSCP field in the outgoing packet is the same as that in
the incoming packet.

•
Support for VLAN-based QoS and hierarchical policy maps on switch virtual interfaces (SVIs).
This release contains these new features and enhancements for Catalyst 3750 and 3560 switches:
•
IEEE 802.1Q tunneling so that customers with users at remote sites across a service-provider
network can keep VLANs segregated from other customers, and Layer 2 protocol tunneling to
ensure that the customer’s network has complete Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Cisco Discovery
Protocol (CDP), and VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP) information about all users.

–
Layer 2 point-to-point tunneling to facilitate the automatic creation of EtherChannels.
–
Layer 2 protocol tunneling bypass feature to provide interoperability with third-party vendors.
•
You can now configure private-VLAN ports on interfaces configured for dynamic ARP inspection
(EMI only).

•
IP source guard is now supported in private VLANs (EMI only).
This release contains these new Catalyst 3750 and 3560 PoE-capable switch features and enhancements
(available in all software images):
(available in all software images):
•
On PoE switches, the new Cisco intelligent power management feature enables the powered device
and the switch to negotiate through CDP messages for an agreed power-consumption level. The
negotiation allows a high-powered Cisco powered device, which consumes more than 7 W, to
operate at its highest power mode.

On PoE switches, you can limit the power allowed on a port or pre-allocate (reserve) power for a
port before the switch discovers the powered device.
