Chapter 9: Saving to and Loading from Disk
Loading a PGM File (Single Program and Sounds)
If a PGM file is selected for load, an additional screen is presented,
in which you are asked which program number (1-24) to load the
program into:
============= Load Program =============
Program to load into: 1-PROGRAM_01
(Sound files with same name as a sound
already in memory won't be loaded.)
========================================
<Load it>
Select a program number, then press
<Load it>
. When
<Load
it>
 is pressed, the program file will be loaded, followed by each
sound file used in the program. (Program files contain a list of the
sound names used by the program but not the sound data itself.) If
one of the sound files to be loaded already exists in memory, that file
won’t be loaded from disk.
COMMENT: If the selected program’s sound files span
multiple disks, the MPC3000 will first load the PGM file,
then all of its sound files from the first disk. Then, a message
will appear on the screen asking you to insert the disk
containing a specific sound file (this is the second disk you
saved to when saving the large program). The MPC3000 will
then load all needed sound files from the second disk. If the
program used more than two disks, this process will repeat
until all of the needed sound files are loaded.
Loading an APS File (All Programs and Sounds)
If an APS file is selected for load, an additional screen is presented,
warning you that all programs and sounds currently in memory will
be erased when the APS file is loaded:
====== Load All Programs & Sounds ======
Press <Load it> to load 'APS' file (all
programs and all sounds). THIS WILLL
ERASE ALL PROGRAMS & SOUNDS IN MEMORY!
