ip rip authentication key (Interface context)
Use the
ip rip authentication key command to set the authentication
string used on the interface. The
no form of this command clears the password.
Note:
This command is executed from the Serial, Loopback, Fast Ethernet and
Fabric Fast Ethernet interfaces.
The syntax for this command is:
[no] ip rip authentication key <password>
[no] ip rip authentication key <password>
Example:
X330WAN-2DS1-1(configure)# ip rip authentication key hush-hush
ip rip authentication mode (Interface context)
Use the
ip rip authentication mode command to specify the type of
authentication used in RIP Version 2 packets. The
no form of this command restores
the default value of none.
Note:
This command is executed from the Serial, Loopback, Fast Ethernet and
Fabric Fast Ethernet interfaces.
The syntax for this command is:
[no] ip rip authentication mode [simple|none]
[no] ip rip authentication mode [simple|none]
Example:
To specify simple authentication to be used in RIP Version 2 packets on the interface
“marketing”.
To specify simple authentication to be used in RIP Version 2 packets on the interface
“marketing”.

password
The authentication string for the interface. Up to 16 characters are
allowed.

• simple - clear text authentication.
• none - no authentication.
