Appendix A  End User Requirements 
Because setup programs for Windows applications typically set 
up the appropriate associations between applications and 
filename extensions, your users will very rarely encounter a case 
where they cannot just load files posted in popular formats.
Configuring MIME types in Netscape Navigator
Netscape Navigator displays the following screen when users try 
to download a file whose format is not recognized by the Web 
browser.

To configure the MIME type in Netscape Navigator:
1.  From the Unknown File Type screen, click Pick App.
2.  From the Configure External Viewer dialog box, click 
Browse to select the directory that stores the program you 
want to associate with this file type. This program will be 
used to open this file type in the future. 
3.  Click OK.
Associations in Internet Explorer
Even though Microsoft Internet Explorer also supports MIME 
types, the preferred mechanism for associating file types with 
applications is through filename extensions.
