Chapter 3  MeetingPlace Web Concepts and Functions 27
MeetingPlace Web can automatically convert MeetingPlace
Voice (.mpv) files to common formats, such as RealAudio (.ra/
.rm), Windows Media (.wma), .mp3, and .wav.
To perform audio conversions into these popular file formats,
MeetingPlace Web uses the audio service. The audio service
accepts jobs from the replication service, performs conversions,
and reports back to the replication service when the conversion
job is completed.
The audio service can reside on the same Windows server as the
other MeetingPlace Web components, or on a separate system.
For high volume conversion applications, you can install the
audio service on multiple Windows servers. For additional
information, refer to MeetingPlace Web Audio Service o
page 41.
Managing User Requests (Agent Service)
The Agent Service maintains a constant connection between
MeetingPlace Web and MeetingPlace. This service processes all
user-invoked MeetingPlace transactions. These transactions
include:
Scheduling and attending meetings
Managing profile information
Requesting lists of meetings to which a user is invited
For additional information, refer to page 91.
Generating Web Pages (ISAPI)
ISAPI uses a combination of static HTML files and HTML-like
template files that dynamically generate pages.
Note: WAV files are not streamed over the Web, so they must be
completely downloaded onto a user’s system before they can be
played back.
