Otherwise, serious personal injury may result. Contact your dealer for replacement.10External Examination111. Examine the outside of the cylinder for the following conditions, and replace the cylinder if they exist:11. Dents or dings11. Arc Burns11. Oil or Grease11. Any other signs of damage that might cause a cylinder to be unacceptable or unsafe for use.112. Examine the cylinder for evidence of fire or thermal damage. Evidence includes charring or blistering of the paint, or other protective coating or heat sensitive indicator. If fire or thermal damage is found, replace the cylinder.113. Inspect the cylinder fillport for the following, and replace if found:11. Debris, oil or grease11. Noticeable signs of damage11. Signs of corrosion inside the valve11. Examine the cylinder gauge. If the cylinder pressure is less than 1500 psig., proceed to step 2 (FIGURE 4.3 on page 15).13NOTE: If the cylinder pressure is greater than 1500 psig., Do NOT attempt to top off this cylinder. It may not fill.132. Set the regulator flow dial on the cylinder to OFF (FIGURE 4.3 on page 15).133. Remove the cylinder and connector fillport covers (if present).13caution13DO NOT connect the outlet (cannula) connection to the HomeFill unit, otherwise the conserving cylinder will not work properly.134. Grasp the cylinder/regulator assembly in the area behind the cylinder gauge (FIGURE 4.3).146. Position the cylinder in the compressor cradle (FIGURE 4.3).147. Align the cylinder fillport with the connector fillport (FIGURE 4.3).148. Pull UP on the outer ring (sleeve) of the connector fillport while pushing DOWN on the cylinder/regulator assembly to couple the cylinder fillport into the connector fillport (FIGURE 4.3).14NOTE: The cylinder is properly connected when an audible “click” is heard.14Cylinder/Regulator Assembly15FIGURE 4.3 Connecting the Cylinder to the Compressor15Disconnecting the Cylinder from the Compressor16m warning16NEVER use tools of any kind to connect/disconnect the cylinder and the compressor. Grasp the cylinder/regulator assembly in the area behind the cylinder gauge.163. With the other hand, grasp the outer ring (sleeve) of the connector fillport and push DOWN.164. When the cylinder fillport is disconnected from the connector fillport, release the outer ring (sleeve) of the connector fillport and use two hands to remove the cylinder from the compressor cradle.17m warning17The fillport cover on the connector fillport and the cylinder fillport MUST be replaced after filling and whenever not in use. If either of the fillport covers are missing contact your healthcare provider before using.176. Place the fillport covers onto the connector fillport and cylinder fillport.177. Examine the cylinder gauge to ensure cylinder is full (needle pointing into GREEN area). If the cylinder is not full, perform the following:17. Repeat Connecting the Cylinder to the Compressor on page 13.17. The cylinder MUST be in the bag to ensure the cylinder couples with the HomeFill properly.181. Unhook and remove the cylinder bag and belt from body.182. Re-attach the buckle.18NOTE: Either end of the belt can be used in this procedure.183. Unthread one end of the belt from one side of the buckle.184. Slide the retaining loop off the belt.185. Pull the end of the belt that has no buckle and retaining loop through the two retaining loops on the cylinder bag.18NOTE: The cylinder bag is now removed from the belt.18NOTE: When performing STEP 6, both loops MUST be used on the cylinder bag.186. Perform one of the following:18. For upright use (vertical orientation) of the cylinder bag:18i. Stand the cylinder bag upright (vertical orientation).18ii. Thread the end of the belt that has no buckle and retaining loop through the two loops on the cylinder bag. See Detail “A”.18. For sideways use (horizontal orientation) of the cylinder bag:18i. Lay the cylinder bag on its side (horizontal orientation).18ii. Thread the end of the belt that has no buckle and retaining loop through the two loops on the cylinder bag. See Detail “B”.19NOTE: The web material on the belt should be facing away from the cylinder bag.197. Insert the retaining loop onto the belt.198. Slide the belt through the buckle.199. Adjust the belt to your waist size.1910. Unhook and remove the cylinder bag and belt from body.202. Re-attach the buckle.20NOTE: Either end of the belt can be used in this procedure.203. Unthread one end of the belt from one side of the buckle.204. Slide the retaining loop off the belt.205. Insert the cylinder into the cylinder bag.20NOTE: The fillport connector uses the circular cutout closest to the zipper and the cylinder gauge uses the remaining circular cutout.2012. Close the zipper and the tab above the zipper to secure the cylinder.2013. Align “Off” with the indicating pointer.213. Position the cylinder so the oxygen cylinder valve outlet is pointing away from the user and any other person(s).21m warning21DO NOT direct flow of oxygen at any person, or flammable material when adjusting the flow dial.214. Attach a standard adult single lumen oxygen nasal cannula, no longer than seven feet to the product’s outlet according to the cannula manufacturer’s instructions. DO NOT use pediatric, low flow nasal cannulas or oxygen masks with this product.21NOTE: A unit without cannula attached may pulse if set at position 1-5.215. Place the cannula over your ears and position the prongs in your nose as instructed by your Health Care provider or cannula manufacturer. Refer to FIGURE 5.1.226. To obtain desired flow, the indicating pointer must align with a specific number on the dial.22To avoid injury to patient, ALWAYS confirm prescribed setting before administering to patient and monitor flow on a frequent basis.22Only use Invacare Corporation HF2PCM2 carrying bag.227. Breathe through the nose and feel a pulse of oxygen as you inhale.22NOTE: When on a pulse setting, there is flow or a pulse only at the beginning of each breath. If you do not feel the pulse at the beginning of each breath, check the setting.22NOTE: Because each patient’s breathing pattern is different and the environment varies, it may be difficult to feel some low setting pulses.22Section 6- Maintenance231.
