ADSL TESTER D2061
                                                                                        USER’S MANUAL

Gateway: Insert the IP address of a possible gateway to use to carry out a PING
outside the local intranet. If dynamic mode is set, the gateway and submask default
values are obtained through the protocol DHCP. In case of static mode, it is possible
to force the tester so that it does not make use of a specific gateway to carry out the
PING. In both cases, to set an IP address of a particular gateway just insert into this
field the respective address. Only for IP (BRIDGE).
DNS server: Enter the DNS address which allows the solution of names from IP to
URL and vice versa.
PPP type: Allows to select the PPP protocol simulation type performed by the
device:
•  Client: D2061 simulates a user terminal, with authentication request to a
remote server.
•  Client + link verify: The device, in Client simulation, sends an echo request
every ten seconds in order to verify if the link is still active.
•  Server: D2061simulates a server and allows to verify the authentication
phase coming from a remote terminal.
•  Server + link verify: The device, in Server simulation, sends an echo
request every ten seconds in order to verify if the link is still active.
LLC SNAP: Setup the packets’ routing mode. Choose Yes, to route the packets with
an LLC SNAP header.
This method allows multiplexing of multiple protocols over a single ATM virtual circuit.
The protocol of a carried Protocol Data Unit (PDU) is identified by prefixing the PDU
by a Logical Link Control (LLC) header.
Choose No, to route the packets according to the VC in use. This second method
does higher-layer protocol multiplexing implicitly by ATM Virtual Circuits (VCs). It is
called "VC Based Multiplexing"
3.7.2.  Running an IP Ping test
